Festive Apple Crisp Recipe

Growing up I couldn’t wait for this to come out of the oven. The topping was so crispy with brown sugar it melted in your mouth.

*Note my twist to this recipe is adding 1 bag of whole cranberries…sssh don’t tell Betty (sorry mom)

**TIP**

  1. I add 1 bag of fresh cranberries for an added touch of yummy

  2. Use a fork when testing the apples for tenderness, fork should go through apple

  3. Lemon Juice can be replaced by Pineapple Juice

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Festive Apple Crisp

Crumble Topping is a delicious idea for any fruit pie or cobbler

Ingredients

    Crumble Mix
  • 1 Cup Rolled or Quick Oats
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Wheat Germ
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Nuts (Granola for allergies instead)
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Margarine or Sweet Butter
  • 2 Tbs. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tbs. Honey

Instructions

    Crumble Mixture:
  1. Combine the dry ingredients
  2. Cut in margarine or butter, until mixture has pea sized chunks
  3. Apple Mixture:
  4. Large Bowl combine lemon juice with honey
  5. Slice 6 large apples (Optional add in bag of cranberries at this time) into honey mixture and toss
  6. Place in in baking dish
  7. Sprinkle crumble mix over apples, pressing down gently
  8. Bake at 350* Until apples are done (use fork to test tenderness) and topping is golden brown
