Apple Scotch Dumpling Dessert ~ Festive Fall Winter Recipe

Apples Apples Apples!! This is an interesting “scotch” dumpling dessert. This is great for any fall or winter festivity that guests will fall in love with. 

Add a dollop of whipped cream or whipped topping to each serving. Serve with a nice pear wine or warm butterscotch drink.

Apple Scotch Dessert ~ Fall Winter Festive Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 Cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbs Corn Starch
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Tbs Butter or Margarine
  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Tbs Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Shortening
  • 3 Cups Chopped, Peeled Tart Apples
  • 3/4 Cup Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Tbs Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 Tbs Butter or Margarine (For the end of recipe)

Instructions

  1. Mix brown sugar, cornstarch and 1/8 tsp salt in a saucepan
  2. Add the cold water; cook and stir till bubbly
  3. Cook and stir 2 minutes more
  4. Add the 1 tsp vanilla and 2 Tbs of butter or margarine
  5. Pour into a 13x9x2-inch baking dish
  6. In bowl combine flour, the 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt
  7. Cut in shortening
  8. Stir in Apple
  9. Stir in milk and 1/2 tsp vanilla till moistened
  10. Drop by Tablespoons over syrup
  11. Combine the 1 Tbs sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle atop
  12. Dot with 2 Tbs of Butter or Margarine
  13. Bake in 350* degree oven for 50 - 55 minutes
